Chapter 7
1 When Solomon finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the LORD filled the house. 2 And the priests could not enter the house of the LORD, for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of the LORD. 3 And all the sons of Israel, seeing the fire come down and the glory of the LORD upon the house, bowed their faces to the ground on the pavement, prostrated themselves, and gave thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever. 4 Then the king and all the people offered sacrifices before the LORD. 5 And King Solomon sacrificed twenty-two thousand cattle and one hundred and twenty thousand sheep as sacrifices, and they dedicated the house of God—the king and all the people. 6 And the priests stood at their posts, and the Levites with the instruments for music of the LORD that David the king had made to give thanks to the LORD—for his steadfast love endures forever—using the music of David by their hand, while the priests sounded trumpets opposite them, and all Israel stood. 7 Solomon consecrated the middle of the court that was before the house of the LORD, for he offered there the burnt offerings and the fat of the peace offerings, because the bronze altar that Solomon had made could not contain the burnt offering, the grain offering, and the fat. 8 And Solomon kept the feast at that time for seven days, and all Israel with him—a very great assembly from the entrance of Hamath to the river of Egypt. 9 They held an assembly on the eighth day, for they dedicated the altar for seven days, and the feast for seven days. 10 And on the twenty-third day of the seventh month he sent the people to their tents, rejoicing and with good hearts over the good that the LORD had done for David and Solomon and Israel his people.
